Lucy – Qualified Asbestos Consultant

Lucy came to WiC via our Essex programme in October 2019. Working as a child’s party host, Lucy was looking for a change and was determined to secure a role in construction – she just needed an opportunity to help her take her first steps into the industry.

Lucy completed her Level1 Health & Safety Awareness course and CSCS Card and went on to receive mentoring and support from WiC PM, Kirstie Forrester. Lucy built-up her confidence and begun looking for her ideal role within construction, leading to an interview for a trainee asbestos consultant at Environtec Limited, of which she received mock interview support prior.

The interview was a success! Within 3 weeks of joining the WiC programme, Lucy had secured the job of trainee asbestos consultant, where she is now learning all about her new role and loving it.

“I was given extra support from Kirstie regarding interview tips which really helped. Kirstie was an amazing tutor she made me feel welcome and comfortable, she is a lovely lady and is the reason that I came into the course in the first place due to being made so comfortable. Andy (course tutor) was also a great mentor and was definitely a big factor in me passing my CSCS course.”

We wish you all the best in your new career, Lucy!

Update: We are now delighted to announce that Lucy has now completed her training, has thrived in her role and is now a Qualified Asbestos Consultant!
