WiC support women into Trade Apprenticeships!

WiC support twelve women into Laing O’Rourke Trade Apprenticeships!

Following the successful completion of the Laing O’Rourke pre-apprenticeship programme in Steel Fixing & Formwork, delivered in partnership with The Skills Centre, 12 women are starting Trade Apprenticeships with Laing O’Rourke! The apprenticeships are for five Formwork Carpenters and seven Steel Fixers and they will be based at the Olympia Redevelopment Project and Old Oak Common Rail Depot.

During the programme, the women were given an initial taste of the skills required during their training sessions at The Skills Centre and all women gained CSCS cards and were given PPE ready for action. The apprenticeships will be delivered by The Skills Centre team and we would like to give particular thanks to Samantha King , Thomas Lamb and trainers Terry Crowe and Craig Chalmers.

WiC Project Manager Anna Walterskotter told us; ” I am so proud of the women on this programme for breaking into such a difficult area of construction for women and wish them all the success for their apprenticeships”.

Congratulations to all the women and huge thanks to the Laing O’Rourke, in particular Michael O’Sullivan and Jaime Raggett for offering these roles and The Skills Centre for all their support!
