WiC skills showcase with CCCT
Fifteen women interested in pursuing careers in the Construction Industry were able to showcase their skills at a series of speed interviews delivered by WiC in partnership with Capital City College Training at Westminster Kingsway College last week. This gave women interview practice and an opportunity to find out about construction related roles such as quantity surveying, project management, plumbing and electrical, site and construction management, finance and health and safety, entailed. Employers from Alliance Facades Solutions, Calford Seadon, Danescroft, EU JLL, The Guinness Partnership, Henry Construction, TLT Solicitors, and Turley; all connected to The Guinness Partnership’s large development site at Bromley-by-Bow.
The women have crossed over from other sectors or have just graduated in construction related courses and are work-ready London residents. The employers were hugely impressed. Alex Christopher from Turley summarised it for all: “A great event! So many ambitious, highly qualified and enthusiastic women who are ready to enter the industry.”
WiC Project Manager Anna Walterskotter says “A big thank you to all employers offering work placements following these interviews; to Kate Child and her team at CCCT for making this happen in such a safe way; and to Helen Dobbs from Guinness coordinating the programme and connecting us all.”
