Rosie – Senior Project Engineer

Rosie Harris was working as a Project Planner in the automotive sector when she was made redundant in March 2019. Rosie has always had a passion for civil engineering and wanted to use her transferable skills to move into this area. She already had some knowledge of this, her father worked in the industry, and she had previously helped with his business.

Rosie attended a Women into Construction awareness event supported by HS2, and was excited to hear about the potential opportunities available, and possible career progression for herself. She went on to successfully complete the L1 Health and Safety and CSCS qualifications, completed a short work-placement, and was supported by WIC to apply for the position of Senior Project Engineer with Fusion, the HS2 Enabling Works Contractor, based in Birmingham.

Rosie was delighted to gain this position and said:
‘Being involved with Women into Construction has truly been a blessing. I’ve met the most wonderful group of women I could have hoped to have met. It is so refreshing to have professionals from such a large organisation like HS2 Ltd see us women as valuable workers. Women into Construction have really helped me to get into my desired industry’.
