Successful launch of WiC’s Cambridgeshire programme with Hill

The Cambridgeshire WiC programme kicked-off with a successful information session. The day was full of positivity and encouragement at Hill’s award winning Athena development this month.

WiC’s Shelley Lawrence, who is leading the programme in the region, facilitated the event, speaking to the group about the programme and training available.

A huge thank you to Chris Luxford, Contracts Manager for Hill, who spoke about the organisation’s sponsorship of the programme and opportunities available at Hill.

Suzie Blackburn from Mick George Ltd. and Richard Green from GSQ Brickwork, part of Hill’s supply-chain, also joined to discuss further work placement opportunities with them in the area, including traffic marshalling and bricklaying.

Hill’s Assistant Site Manager, Jessica Garton and Assistant Technical Coordinator, Lauren New shared their journeys into the industry. With Zoe Patman-Wallis they gave one-to-one sessions about their experiences working in construction. Hill’s fantastic HR team Clare Smithson and Rachel Pells plus our own Kath Moore MD attended to offer advice and guidance.

We had a fantastic response from the women who attended. Shelley is now looking forward to supporting them into the industry. We’re off to a great start in Cambridgeshire!
